StarDrive launched on Kickstarter in December of 2011. After a standard 29 day funding period over Christmas, project creator Daniel Dicicco raised $17,676 which was 10k past his mark. Despite taking a lengthy development process, StarDrive was able to launch their product earlier this year. The game is now officially available for purchase on the ForeverGeek Store.
StarDrive is a 4X real-time interstellar empire strategy game. In the beginning you start with a small fleet and home planet as you begin to embark through out the galaxy building your empire. You must lead your species to greatness as you colonize, develop, and terraform new worlds. The user is encouraged to customize their own warships from scratch using modules for weapons such as turrents andmissles. The game is expanded to interact with 8 unique alien races as well. For his Kickstarter elite, he even allowed them to create their own alien race which you can see below.
Create your own custom species with numerous possible physical, psychological, and socioeconomic traits, or choose one of the game’s 8 pre made species
A richly detailed module-based ship design system where you control not only the equipment and weapons a ship class carries but it’s layout, then see how those decisions play out in battle. Ships can be assembled into fleets that each have their own formation and rules of engagement
Terraform new planets and turn them into thriving centers of industry, research, and commerce.
Interact with alien civilization through diplomacy, espionage, or warfare. Each of the 8 alien races reacts to your actions differently, depending on their own traits.
When things turn hostile, you command your fleets in real time in a detailed battle system with modular damage for each ship and numerous tactical possibilities.
Designed to be highly moddable, allowing for a wide variety of player-made custom content.
