SilverAir: Odorless Athletic Shirts Made With Pure Silver on Kickstarter by Y Athletics is going to murder their goal of raising $30,000. Currently sitting at just under $110,000 with 27 days to go, I am projecting that they will raise another $48,000 at the minimum before their project is over.
There is so much to love on this project, I am not sure where to begin. First, the product. The SilverAir is an athletic t-shirt that’s lined with silver. The silver acts an agent that prevents bacteria from forming, thus preventing odor. For those of us who sweat profusely, you can wear this to the gym and still run some errands or at the very least, not smell like a dumpster in front of the cute girl at the front desk.
Second, they set their campaign to a maximum. It’s something I wish Kickstarter would enforce on all projects. Obviously after calculating their goals, they found a ceiling in which they can’t pass. This is so great for backers because often being an early to backer to project that raises $600K + will then deliver 10 months late because they weren’t ready for so many orders. Or worse, not deliver.
It’s also an incredibly smart move to increase exclusivity. As I write this, the early bird has already sold out and almost 700 people have bought the next tier.
Third, It’s reasonably priced. This isn’t some over priced Nike shirt. 1 t-shirt will cost you $34, which is 37% off the expected retail price. Great team, and great project.
THE STEAL – $34 for your own SilverAir T-shirt.
