BoomBox is turning to Kickstarter to raise funds for their 3rd studio album, ‘Filling In The Color’. Currently, they have raised $1,420 of their $15,000 goal with 29 days to go. That rate puts them them on pace to hit just 131% of their goal if all goes to plan.

New BoomBox Studio Album "Filling In The Color" on CrowdDistrict

Consisting of two very talented DJ’s and producers, BoomBox was created by Russ Randolph and Zion Rock Godchaux. Since their debut album in 2005, they have been mixing up a very unique sound that could be classified as a funky electronic groove. After their first album launched, Visions of a Backbeat, they skyrocketed off their single ‘Stereo’ which captured audiences around the world.

At first glance, it’s quite obvious their Kickstarter presentation is very poor. I wish this wasn’t the case. In a very rare circumstance, I won’t pick apart this project because I am well aware of the creators behind the campaign. While most of us serial backers are accustomed to tons of product images, external links and resources, or at least a video, you have to disregard their presentation mistakes this time.

Why should you back this project?

They are so funky. They are so smooth. They are the perfect ambiance for any situation. Don’t believe me? Listen to this.

Imagine yourself entertaining a few friends and some ladies during this winter season while it’s bitter cold outside. You’ve drank just the right amount of a great gin & tonic to feel warm and courageous.

With a sudden wave of a suave and funky baseline, you’re hit with a feeling the seems new yet somehow familiar. Suddenly, the urge to grab the girl you’ve been laughing with all night heightens. Then, like James Bond,  you grab her hand and  shimmy around your living room with one hand around her and the other firmly around your drink.

Your friends and her friends are chuckling at both of you but neither of you care. And as if the baseline was continuing to control your every maneuver, you move in for the kiss and it works like you’ve done it a million times.

You don’t come across suave party music very often, but BoomBox are the masters at it. Its only after that perfect night that you’re reflecting on it in bed only to notice that BoomBox was playing the whole time. It was like your own Ciroc commercial.

I would love to see them provide a lot of more info to their Kickstarter page to help convert those who have never heard of them into fans.
